Indeterminacy Festival 2023
THE INDETERMINACY FESTIVAL offers artists and audiences the opportunity to slow down and regain creative consciousness. Over a weeklong intensive residency, selected emerging and visiting artists work together to create and premier new work for the public. Anchored by site-specific environments such as abandoned grain silos and the moon-like landscape of a fossil park, the festival invites collaborators to grapple with the unpredictability of these sites as a medium in their creative process.
This year, the festival will take place in Montreal from July 1-8 with a focus on “discipline and improvisation”. This theme will be explored through contemporary dance, experimental music, film, and visual art mediums. Indeterminacy 2023 will emerge from the intensives led by internationally acclaimed artists and scholars Jonathan Golove, Sandy Silva, Bill Gilbert, Alanna Kraaijeveld, Spencer Parsons, Adelheid Mers, and Melanie Aceto. The week will culminate in two large-scale performances at the outdoor venue Entrepôt 77.
